Evaluation

At Wild Roots OT, we use the Evaluation in Ayres Sensory Integration® (EASI) to gain a deeper understanding of how your child processes sensory information and how it may be impacting everyday activities.

The EASI is a comprehensive assessment designed to look beyond behaviors and identify the underlying sensory, motor, and perceptual factors that influence your child's ability to participate in daily life.

What Does the Evaluation Include?

Our evaluation process combines multiple sources of information to create a complete picture of your child’s strengths and challenges.

Parent & Caregiver Interview

We begin by learning about your child through your eyes. We'll discuss your concerns, your child's developmental history, and any challenges you notice at home, school, or in the community.

Standardized Assessment

Through a series of engaging activities and tasks, we assess areas such as:

  • Balance and movement

  • Body awareness

  • Motor planning

  • Coordination

  • Sensory processing

  • Postural control

  • Ocular motor

  • Visual perception

These activities often feel like play and are designed to help us understand how your child's nervous system processes information.

Clinical Observation

We observe how your child responds to movement, sensory experiences, challenges, and new situations. This provides valuable information about regulation, attention, participation, and adaptive responses.

What Will We Learn?

The evaluation helps us answer important questions such as:

  • Why does my child seem clumsy or uncoordinated?

  • Why do transitions feel so difficult?

  • Why does my child seek or avoid certain sensory experiences?

  • Why are everyday tasks harder than expected?

  • How does sensory processing impact learning, behavior, and participation?

Rather than focusing only on symptoms, we look for the underlying reasons behind your child's challenges.

What Happens After the Evaluation?

After completing the assessment, you'll receive a detailed report explaining our findings in parent-friendly language.

We will review:

  • Your child's strengths

  • Areas of challenge

  • How sensory processing may be affecting daily life

  • Recommendations for home, school, and community settings

  • Whether occupational therapy services may be beneficial

If therapy is recommended, we develop individualized goals based on your child's unique needs and family priorities.

Why Families Choose an EASI Evaluation

Many parents tell us they know something feels challenging for their child but aren't sure why.

The EASI evaluation helps provide answers, clarity, and a roadmap for supporting your child's growth, confidence, and participation in everyday life.
